Wesley L. (Bubba) Hammond

Wesley L. (Bubba) Hammond passed away suddenly on January 28, 2013. Wes was born on April 13, 1962 to Walter and Martha Frances (Reynolds) Hammond in Dallas. He was raised in the Ennis and Bardwell area and attended Ennis High School. He worked for Gerdau, formerly Chapperral Steel, in Midlothian for 32 years. Wes married Phyllis Gentry Washburn on March 29, 1991. Wes loved to spend time with his family and friends, one of his favorite past times was to cook for the family that he so dearly loved. He loved to dance and he lived his life to the fullest on a daily basis. He enjoyed entertaining in his home, playing cards with his buddies, shooting pool with anyone that could hold a cue stick, and overall having a good time. Wes is survived by his wife of 21 years Phyllis, children, Christy Rowland and her husband Tommy, Ronald Washburn Jr. and his wife Tara, Christina McElyea, Justin Hammond and his wife Linda; Grandchildren Heather Rowland, Joshua, Phelicity and Samantha Liska, Alyssa and Connor Washburn, Ryan and Trinity Hollingsworth, Kyrstin and Destini McElyea, and Evan Hammond; sisters, Cora Suarez, Martha Hammond, Tena Greene, and Wanda Shackelford; brothers Lester Hammond, Walter Hammond, James Duffy, and Ronnie Roach. Wes was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Jazmine Hammond; sisters, Marie Downing and Linda Wesolowski; and brother Charles Hammond. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Relay For Life of Ennis or American Heart Association. Memorial service is scheduled for 2:30 P.M. on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Chapel in Ennis with Ronnie Washburn officiating.
