The Waxahachie Indians were extremely fortunate to escape Lion Memorial Stadium with a victory in the latest Battle of 287 on Friday night.
Ennis (2-7, 1-6) held Waxahachie (8-1) to its lowest point total since week one and gave the Indians their toughest district challenge yet in a 30-24 Lion loss. The Lions finished with more total yards (356-315), first downs (21-13) and led for most of the ballgame. The only things decisively in Waxahachie’s favor were passing production (150-47) and the turnover battle (3-1), as all three of Ennis’ turnovers came in the red zone.
