Lion football was in position for the winning touchdown a couple of times in the second half on Friday against the host West Mesquite Wranglers (1-4, 1-2), but Ennis (2-4, 1-3) encountered enough red zone trouble to fall just short in a 19-16 loss.
“I didn’t have these guys ready to play and needed to do a better job coaching this week regarding our plan,” said coach Jack Alvarez. “I just don’t want the kids to be blamed for this loss. They did everything I told them to do; we just came up short.”
