Fort Worth DA: No intention of resigning

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — The district attorney in Fort Worth says he’s not bowing to calls for his resignation over a former prosecutor’s allegations of sexual harassment.

Tarrant County District Attorney Joe Shannon has denied he harassed Sabrina Sabin. The county settled with Sabin for $375,000 last year, but declined to release case documents until last week.

The documents included Sabin’s handwritten notes in which she said Shannon asked to see her breasts.

The county tax assessor, Ron Wright, on Tuesday called for Shannon to resign. Wright says the case makes Shannon and the district attorney’s office look bad.

But in a statement, Shannon says his office is defined not by one case, but by the work of prosecutors. He says he has “absolutely no intention” of resigning.
