Police: Man killed friend with sword

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — A South Texas man has been charged with using a sword to fatally stab a friend in the chest as the two men apparently argued about a woman.

San Antonio police say the attack happened early Tuesday after several people had been drinking alcohol at an apartment complex.

Officer Matt Porter says it appears the victim was stabbed after making a pass at the suspect’s girlfriend. The victim was dead at the scene. His name wasn’t immediately released pending notification of next of kin.

Porter says 33-year-old Christopher Shows has been charged with murder and was being held Tuesday on $200,000 bond. Police did not immediately have information about an attorney for Shows.

Porter says the sword has been recovered.
