UT System offers website to track average salaries

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — The University of Texas System has unveiled a website to help track how much graduates on average earned up to five years after leaving school and the likely debt load.

System officials in Austin on Thursday announced details of seekUT, which stands for search, plus earnings, plus employment equals knowledge. The site is meant to help students and families make informed decisions on future careers.

It’s touted as the first U.S. system of higher education with an interactive website using salary and debt statistics for various jobs. The information involves students one year and five years after graduation.

The Texas Workforce Commission shared occupational data. The project also involves the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

The website evolved from recommendations of the Student Debt Reduction Task Force.
