Student jailed for solicitation

A 17-year-old EHS senior was arrested Tuesday for allegedly soliciting two minors for sex online.

Benefit planned for Gonzales’

The family of slain 15-year-old Moriah Gonzales is holding a benefit for her family Saturday night at the SPJST. Per a flyer distributed by the benefit organizers, monies raised by the event will benefit Moriah’s parents, Robert and Cynthia Gonzales.

Harrell headed into THSCA Hall of Honor

A month from now, former Ennis Lion football coach Sam Harrell will add another honor to his prestigious resume. On Aug. 1 at coaching school in San Antonio, Harrell will be inducted into the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) Hall of Honor. A first-ballot inductee selected by a four-man committee, the current Brownwood High quarterbacks coach is one of five inductees in the 2012 class.

Healthcare future still unpredictable

With the conservative leanings of many in this community, Thursday’s news that President Barack Obama’s health care law was upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court is not welcome news. We understand and expect that. However, the fact is until Republicans muster up enough strength to repeal the bill, it’s what’s on the table for the healthcare industry. Everyone is affected by this.
