County updates burn ban

The Ellis County Commissioners Court approved new fees for the sheriff and constables’ services on Monday night, while approving a revised burn ban.

Pastor no-billed in alleged sex assault

A preacher arrested on May 31 will not stand trial for alleged sexual assault of a child after an Ellis County grand jury said there was insufficient evidence to prosecute.

Sgt. Randy Owen of the Ennis Police Department pulled over an 18-wheeler on northbound Interstate 45 on Monday night after he saw flames coming from the truck’s rear brakes.

Christian Marente

He was born on May 12, 1995 in Ennis to Christina Marente and Miguel Mendoza. Christian was a student at Ennis ISD. He was an avid sports fan who loved the Cowboys, Longhorns, and Texas Rangers. Christian was loved and cherished by all.
