Lives saved, senior hailed

Two local parents are calling an Ennis High School senior a hero after a Sunday morning fire threatened six lives.

Assistant Superintendent Kathy Cikanek dispelled misconception surrounding the embattled CSCOPE program, saying only the lesson plan portion of the system is being removed.

This morning, under the authority of the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office, the SPCA of Texas took custody of six cruelly treated dogs from a property in Red Oak, Texas. The animals were living inside a feces-filled, urine-soaked house on the property. SBA declares disaster

Ellis County has been included in a disaster declaration made Wednesday by the Small Business Administration that makes low-interest loans available for storm repairs from the May 16 tornado.
