Bruised cowboy


A local cowboy, John Beauchamp, tried to contain a wild horse in downtown Ennis in 1898, throwing a rope over him. The rope got twisted around Beauchamp’s leg, however, and the horse dragged him 300 yards. The man received severe bruising but was finally able to free himself by cutting the rope.
