Theatre Rocks – My First Date – Valentine’s Play is About Romance in the 40’s

Bill and Suzanne Rhoten, Theatre Rocks Caroline Marshall, 14, of Ennis, plays Sunny May, a rascally younger sister of Anna, portrayed by Cassidy Hortman. The 1940’s romance, “My First Date,” is on stage at Theatre Rocks during the next three weekends. Known as a gifted director, Bill Rhoten is perhaps at his best when he creates a story and script. In what could be a classic creation of his, Theatre Rocks opens My First Date this weekend. Just in time for the Valentines season, the crafty writer has put together a live drama that draws upon a long list of themes and images of courtship and enough humor to make this a can’t miss play. “It’s about love in the 1940’s-50’s, favorite eras,” said Rhoten before a rehearsal last week. “There’s a feel to it of a 40’s romance. A lot of funny, a dash of fairy tell from the time of the age of innocence.” Read stories like this and more in your latest edition of The Ennis News. Be informed, subscribe today!
