Youth at the Helm
The youngest superintendent ever to have been elected in the Ennis schools, according to a report in the Daily Light, was 28 year old W.F. Howard who was elected for a three year term in 1937. His salary was $2,800 a year. He was a 1926 Ennis High graduate, received his bachelor’s degree in 1930 and was expecting his master’s degree from the University of Texas at the time of his election.
