Shoplifter nabbed

Ennis police Det. Sgt. Mike Hopson said H-E-B employees detained an alleged shoplifter after the suspect was observed placing a side of ribs and other items in his pants and attempting to exit the store without paying for the products.
Officer Jon Knapp was dispatched to the store and placed the suspect under arrest. The was transported to the Ennis police department.
John Woodard, 30, of Ennis was charged with theft of less than $50.
This is Woodard’s second theft charge this year. Hopson reported on July 6 observing Woodard traveling on E. Brown St. with a bag of what turned out to be stolen shoes from Bealls, located on I-45. Hopson honked his horn and flashed his lights at Woodard, at which time he fled the scene. Officer Jason York assisted in locating Woodard, who was charged at that time with theft of less than $500.
