America’s best, Ennis’ own

Twenty-eight local veterans of World War II (pictured lower left), including former POWs and participants in famous battles, were recognized last night at the Ennis Country Club by Honor Flight of Ellis County, the local arm of a national effort to fly servicemen and women to the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. in 2008.
President of Honor Flight of Ellis County Marylyn Wylie (upper left) addressed the crowd following Ennis Regional Medical Center CEO Dave Anderson’s distribution of certificates of appreciation to the veterans present. Vice-President Ron Spellman (at right, lower right) spoke personally with many veterans during the event, including 96-year-old Fernando Cuevas.
