Dennis Robinson files for reelection

Commissioner Dennis Robinson has filed to run for reelection to the office of Ellis County Commissioner, Precinct 1.
“It has been an honor and a privilege to serve and represent the citizens of Ellis County Precinct 1 as Commissioner,” Robinson said. “The encouragement to run again has been great. I am asking the voters for their support in the Republican Primary in March.”
Robinson, a lifelong Ellis County resident, took office in 2005 and is currently in the third year of his four-year term. During his time on the Commissioners’ Court Robinson has been instrumental in working with fellow members of the Court to resolve litigation regarding the Justice Center, to sell the Super Conducting Super Collider building, to finalize the official map of county roads, and to adopt the Ellis County Thoroughfare Plan which will address transportation needs throughout the county.
With the County Treasurer’s Office, Robinson has also spearheaded the implementation of a system allowing county offices and departments to accept credit card payments in revenue collection.
“We have made some significant accomplishments in the past three years but we will continue to be faced with many challenges due to the growth that we are experiencing throughout the county,” Robinson said. “Our road crew has rebuilt and resurfaced 56.4 miles of roads in Precinct 1 since 2005. In the last two years we have focused mainly on high traffic areas but in the coming months we will be addressing many of the lower traffic roads throughout the precinct.”
Robinson has also worked to provide superior training for his road crew, as well other county and city road crews, in partnership with Navarro Community College and TXDOT. Plans for additional training are underway.
“I understand the issues and challenges facing us here in Ellis County,” Robinson said. “I know that people want strong, conservative leadership and low taxes. I believe I can provide that leadership, and with my experience on the Commissioners’ Court, together we can make Ellis County a great place to live. I look forward to the challenges ahead and the opportunity to continue serving the people here in Precinct 1.”
Robinson is from Palmer where he attended PISD.
After 16 years with Kroger Corporation, he launched a successful business as a homebuilder.
Robinson and his wife of 22 years, Lisa, have two teenage children. Lisa is a registered nurse at Methodist Hospital of Dallas, where she works in the neonatal intensive care unit caring for premature babies. She has been employed with Methodist for over 10 years.
“I’ve been blessed with two wonderful children and a great wife who has made me a better person,” said Robinson.
The family is active at Fundamental Baptist Church in Palmer.
