Community should support library

Our community is blessed with a well-staffed and well-stocked public library and local residents can do their part to make sure the facility continues to thrive in the future.
Two local groups – the Military Order of the Stars and Bars and the United Daughters of the Confederacy – recently donated several books to the library and we hope to see more groups and individuals doing the same.
Our library is too often overlooked or taken for granted, even by people who use its services on a regular basis. The facility is a true source of local pride that offers so much to this community. We should remember that we all have the opportunity to support the library by donating books, volunteering and supporting groups like the Friends of the Library.
Many of our readers have stagnant shelves of books at home that could be put to good use either as donations to the library or to the Friends of Library’s annual book sale. The most recent sale took place in September, but the group accepts donations year round. The funds raised are a vital part of making sure our library remains a top notch facility.
We encourage our readers to follow the example set by the Military Order of the Stars and Bars and the Daughters of the Confederacy by donating books to the Ennis Public Library.
To find out how you can help, contact the library at 972-875-5360. This local treasure deserves the support of our entire community and each of us should do our part.
