Voting locations announced for May 10 city, county locations

City Hall is venue for early voting, April 28-May 6
Ennis and Ellis County voters have a lot to consider for the May 10 election.
The city election was amended to just one race once the filing date to run for office had passed and Mayor Russell Thomas, Ward 3 Commissioner Tom Abram and former Police Chief Dale Holt, running for Ward 5, were unopposed. With the other three races settled, Commissioner Byron Walker and former Police Chief James N. “Red” Sanders will be vying for the position of Ward 1 Commissioner.
Early voting will take place at Ennis City Hall, at 115 W. Brown St., from April 28 – May 6. Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. except for April 28 and May 1 when they will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
On May 10 voters will make their choice at Travis Elementary School, at 200 N. Shawnee St., from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
On the county slate, a special election has been called for “the legal sale of beer and wine for off-premise consumption only” and “the legal sale of mixed beverages in restaurants by food and beverage certificate holders only.”
