Ennis Relay: Each year bigger, better

Ennis delivered again ––big time!
Of course, that’s no surprise to anybody. The people of the Bluebonnet City always come through. But the efforts of citizens are appreciated just the same by organizers of the 4th Annual Ennis Relay for Life event, held Friday at the Ennis Junior High track and football field.
Total proceeds are still being tallied but even before the American Cancer Society benefit this past weekend, funds received were already at $104,000, only a smidge away from the local effort’s projected goal of $110,000 for 2008.
The Ennis Daily News takes a lot of pride in its role as media sponsor for Ennis Relay, a position this publication has held since the organization’s founding in 2004. We are glad to be affiliated with a program as important and increasingly successful as the local effort benefiting cancer research.
And we congratulate the group for surpassing its other campaign goals of $15,000 in sponsorship, over 50 teams and over 1,000 Luminaria tributes.
This year more than $17,000 was raised through sponsorship, some 52 teams participated and around 1,200 cancer memorials were pledged.
Bravo, Ennis Relay. Bravo, Ennis!
