Cinco de Mayo Fest coming Saturday

Local celebration of Mexican holiday now in its fourth year
Once again, Ennis is in sync with Cinco de Mayo.
Organized by EPD Officer Domingo Galban, Louisa De Los Santos, Frank Bustamante and others, the 4th annual celebration of the Mexican national holiday will take place at the Ennis High School Memorial parking lot.
The group’s representatives said Cinco de Mayo “is an opportunity for the Hispanic community to come together, not just the local community but from all over.”
Last year’s festival drew an impressive turn out of revelers, and coordinators for the 2008 event said they anticipate many returning vendors and attendees.
In addition to a full roster of entertainment, there will be food and refreshment, arts and crafts, a car show and children’s activities. Along with the three-division “Miss Cinco de Mayo” beauty pageant, the lineup of live concerts will feature local bands Grupo Poder (Christian music) and Silverado (Tejano music).
Cinco de Mayo 2008 takes place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. this Saturday, May 3 in the Ennis High School Memorial Stadium parking area, located at 1405 Lake Bardwell Drive.
Admission is free. Live entertainment is sponsored by the Ennis Arts Commission and Allen Samuels Autoplex. For more information contact Galban at 972-935-6075.
