Opportunity arises to help local churches

We are continuously running editorials and articles stating what a dire need the local non-profit organizations are in. Sometimes more crucial than money to groups like Meals-on-Wheels, the Boys and Girls Club and the Red Cross are the need for volunteers.
We’re sure many people would love to help out these types of groups and the local churches who hold events to help the needy and less fortunate, but don’t have the time to volunteer and aren’t sure how else to help. Well, there are two opportunities Saturday to help local churches raise some money.
Ennis United Pentacostal Church is hosting a free car wash at McDonald’s on E. Ennis Avenue from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Besides giving donations to the group for cleaning your dirty car, people can purchase sponsored ads from members of the church at the car wash.
For more information about the car wash contact JoLinda Yandell for more information.
Another church, First Christian in Palmer, is holding its annual yard sale starting at 8 a.m. Saturday. People can fulfill their garage sale shopping desires and pick up some necessary items for the house, all while helping fund the local house of worship. For more information call 972-449-3147.
These two events give people a chance to help local groups who are trying to raise funds and you don’t have to do anything more than have your car washed or buy some used items.
