Bazaar brings families together

This weekend marked another milestone for the St. John Catholic Church community. The annual bazaar has one day of festivities behind it and one more fun-filled day to go.
With the closing of St. John Catholic School this year, it has been a long and emotional summer for many people who have wanted unity among the parishioners and it seems unity has come in the form of a huge group willing to come together and help with the bazaar.
Bazaar committee chairperson Larry Deagan has kept a positive attitude and a giving spirit as he’s worked to make the bazaar a family-friendly event for the entire Ennis community. He has recruited volunteers who have used their unique talents in helping to bring the event to a very appreciative crowd.
The time for healing that members of the church have been praying for and waiting for appears to have come at last and while emotions may still play a role in the equation of losing the school, the success of the bazaar proves indeed that time heals all wounds.
We encourage anyone who hasn’t visited the bazaar to get out this afternoon from noon – 5 p.m. and take in the show. There are dozens of games to play, lots of prizes to win, good food to eat and wonderful people to visit. The bazaar has been an important part of the chuch’s and community’s history for the past 70 years and not only is it a great place to bring the whole family, it is a rite of passage for youngsters growing up with fond memories of riding the antique cars or hitching a ride on the train.
We hope everyone takes some time today and spends a moment supporting their neighbors and friends in this time-honored tradition.
