Support ‘Taste’ this Thursday

Each year we look forward to Helping Hands’ Taste of Ennis fund-raiser with mouth-watering anticipation.
This annual event has become a favorite among the residents of our community because it offers, without a doubt, the most eclectic meal available anywhere.
Restaurants, grocery stores and other local businesses are on hand each year providing samples of their cuisine to those who attend to support Helping Hands. The small portions add up to a big meal that can include everything from Mexican dishes, Chinese cuisine, local Czech favorites and American standbys like barbecue. The variety of desserts is sure to please even the most discriminating diner, but we encourage our readers not to discriminate. Try a little bit of everything and we’re sure you’ll go home happy.
The Taste of Ennis is the biggest fund-raiser of the year for Helping Hands of Ennis and this year it’s more important than ever that local folks come out and show their support. The need is greater than ever and supplies are running low. The added needs of Hurricane Ike evacuees and the struggling economy have combined to put an extra strain on the organization’s resources. Helping Hands supplies food, clothing and other assistance to local families who are going through difficult times.
To help make sure the event is a success, organizers are planning some new attractions such as a hand-painted chair auction, live music and a cake walk. Helping Hands volunteers are hoping to focus their fund-raising efforts on this event instead of several smaller ones.
The Taste of Ennis will take place at 6 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Tickets are $10.
Plan now to attend the Taste of Ennis and be sure to thank the local sponsors who help to make sure this tasty tradition is a big success.
