Halloween bash always a fun night

The Goblins and Ghosts Bash is always one of our favorite events in Ennis. There are a number of things that make the festive night such a hit.
It is great to see so many downtown businesses – along with other companies that set up shop on the brick streets of downtown – opening their doors after 5 p.m. for the enjoyment of the children of Ennis. The Ennis Daily News office is always happy to set up a table outside our front door to hand out candy to the passers-by.
Another thing our staff loves about this event is getting to see all the photographs taken of children who dress up each year in some of the most creative costumes we’ve ever seen. Though we aren’t able to publish all the pictures in the paper, we have fun looking through them and seeing the endearing smiles of the kids as they collect bags full of candy and other goodies.
It’s also fun each year to see how decorative Minnie McDowell Park can be with its spider webs, gravestones and other spooky additions. We’re so grateful to the folks of the Historic Downtown Merchants Association who put in so much effort to set the proper mood for Halloween. Every year we’re amazed at how that group can get such a small space to look more frightening and unique than ever before.
If you haven’t yet seen what the Historic Downtown Merchants Association and the Ennis Chamber of Commerce do with this yearly event, we strongly urge you to take a stroll downtown next year and see what all the talk is about. We think the adults have almost as much fun as the kids.
