New group is sure to have an impact

We are excited to hear that a new group will be working in Ennis to prevent drug and alcohol abuse among local youths.
Impact Ennis is the city’s first drug prevention coalition and the board of directors for the organization held their first meeting last week. Under the direction of coordinator Jane Mize, an outstanding group of local individuals makes up the board and we look forward to seeing the positive results of their efforts.
The problem of drug and alcohol abuse among young people is nothing new to this community. Just as in communities all across this nation, the problem affects kids from all walks of life. No one is immune and kids today need every possible tool available to them in order to avoid the pitfalls of drugs and alcohol.
Impact Ennis is an initiative of the state-funded Drug Prevention Resources Inc., the oldest prevention agency in the state. The coalition plans to reach out to local youths with innovative and effective programs to help them avoid substance abuse.
We know that with Mize coordinating the local effort and the stellar group of individuals who make up the board, Impact Ennis will prove to be a true blessing to this community.
We look forward to working with the coalition and encourage our readers to do the same. To find out more about the group and how you can help them achieve their goals, contact Mize at 214-399-0815.
