Ennis homes shining bright

You might have opened this newspaper and because of the center photo on the front page thought you were sent the wrong day’s paper, but we assure you that is not the case.
No, in the spirit of Christmas and to support the Holiday of Lights here in Ennis, the Ennis Daily News will be running decorated homes that show off local residents’ holiday enthusiasm with lots of lights strung up on rooftops and lawn ornaments placed for all to enjoy.
The idea for this came from Harriett Adams, who is instrumental in putting together the Lights of Ennis every year and a big proponent of making the name of Ennis more famous for its hometown lifestyle and friendly atmosphere. We at the newspaper are happy to focus in on the holiday spirit homeowners are expressing through Christmas lights and holiday decorations on their front lawn.
We all know it is a hassle to get in the attic or storage closet where your Christmas decorations are placed when not hanging from hooks in December. And it’s no fun checking each bulb to make sure the entire strand will work. We hope that having your home featured in the local newspaper will help make it all worthwhile. We want to show our gratitude for your gift to the community.
For obvious reasons we can’t feature every home we’ve been alerted to between now and Christmas, but we promise to put as many pictures of decorated homes as possible in the paper. Hopefully this can become an annual tradition and those that aren’t featured this year can be highlighted next year.
We know the folks who decorate their homes don’t do it in order to have their picture in the paper. They do it to show their Christmas spirit and as a gift to the entire community. For that, we thank them and wish them a very merry Christmas.
