Don’t forget needs after the holidays

Once again, Christmas day has managed to sneak up on us. It always seems we have more time to prepare, but then here it is, just one day away. Next thing you know, it will be over and then we’re all back to business as usual.
It’s important to remember that business as usual, is not a happy time for many in our community. Those among us who are less fortunate, get more attention than usual during the holidays, but their needs don’t disappear with the Christmas decorations.
We are blessed to live in a very generous community and local folks are always eager to reach out to those in need. Time and time again, the people of Ennis and the surrounding area have come forward to help others and this is never more apparent than during Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Remember that the spirit of giving is not just limited to the months of November and December. There are needs all around us all year long. If each of us makes it a point to just do a little to help others throughout the year, the entire community will reap the rewards. It truly is better to give than to receive, and while this may be more prevalent during Christmas it’s just as important in the months that follow.
We are so proud of this community and its generosity and we know that it will continue. But remember that it takes all of us to make that happen. Don’t assume that someone else will pick up the slack and take care of the needs that are out there. Instead, we should all do what we can by donating our time, effort, or money to the families who are struggling through difficult times.
