Get into the local art scene

We love art here at the Ennis Daily News. Works of art can offer something beautiful in otherwise bleak times.
An artist, through his or her chosen medium, can transport you to another time or place. An artwork can create a world of fantasy and offers a moment of escape from reality. It can offer a new perspective on life.
That is why it is essential we view works of art every chance we can get. Or, if you have the means, purchase a painting, photograph, sculpture or other artwork for your home.
We appreciate art, and it is especially endearing to view art from local artists. It is also nice not to have to brave traffic to Dallas or Fort Worth to go to a museum. The two art venues in Corsicana featured in this edition of the Ennis Daily News, the Jordan Art Gallery and the Pearce Collections museum, offer first-class art exhibitions.
At the Jordan Gallery, you can see works from artists who live around the world, but there are also works from local artists displayed.
If you prefer Western art, the Pearce Collection is right up your alley. This museum has three new exhibitions opening Jan. 20.
The museum offers historical as well as art exhibitions.
So, if you want to become more culturally aware or just impress your friends with a painting in your living room, visit one or both of these venues.
Everyone deserves to be exposed to great art and you shouldn’t have to live in a big city to be able to appreciate the skills of an artist. It’s nice to be able enjoy art a little closer to home.
