Czech out New Year’s Eve event

At the Ennis Daily News, we know how important Czech heritage is to our readers.
While we know that you aren’t all Czech, we also know that you don’t have to be Czech to appreciate that group’s culture here in Ennis. That is why we are excited about the Texas Czech Heritage and Culture Center that is currently under construction in LaGrange.
The museum will be great for both Czech and non-Czech Ennis residents alike. For people of Czech heritage, you can learn about your cultural roots. For people who aren’t Czech, you can learn about a culture that is an integral part of the community.
It’s good to see Czech Texans from around the state uniting in the effort to appreciate and honor the Czech heritage that so many share. To support the funding of this $1.7 million facility, make plans to attend the New Year’s Eve Dance at the SOKOL Hall here in town.
The music of “Czech and Then Some” will be sure to put you in the mood for supporting Czech heritage. Come out at 7:30 p.m. to listen to the band and socialize with other residents of Czech heritage and people who just appreciate the culture. Stay until after midnight for black-eyed peas and corn bread.
The event is a great opportunity to raise support of the new museum and will also be a perfect time to learn a little more about Czech heritage. Either way, we at the Ennis Daily News are proud to be part of a community with such a strong heritage. We look forward to the New Year’s Eve Dance and the opening of the Texas Czech Heritage and Culture Center.
