United Way needs just a bit more

Of all the things anyone can say about the Ennis community, the one that is perhaps the most accurate is the people here are generous.
Time and time again when a need is made known, the businesses and individuals in town come together to make sure the needs are met. It happens with everything from a school fund-raiser to a church collection of canned goods, which shows that above all else this community cares for each other.
It is that level of caring and compassion that make fund raising so important in Ennis and especially so with the ongoing campaign of the Greater Ennis United Way because all of the money raised goes back into agencies and programs within the city. The money collected from community members and businesses goes back into the community to help someone else that relies on a specific program or agency to feed their family or have child care for their family so they can work. It is a working example of how this community cares for their neighbors and friends and ensures that those who need a little help receive it.
However, despite a tremendous level of generosity, the campaign is still a little short of the goal set by the board of the G.E.U.W. and unless the goal is met, some programs will have to make due with a little less than what they would have had the goal been met. For most of these agencies stretching dollars and making due with a little less is nothing new, but some are already stretched as far as they can be and they count on every dollar they can possibly get for funding.
We encourage any individual or business that has not donated to the Greater Ennis United Way to consider doing so. Checks can be made payable to the agency and left at their office or for those who want to donate while they run errands, checks will be accepted at Ennis State Bank. This is truly a campaign that is for the community, from the community and we hope that everyone that can will help meet the goal by donating so that programs within the community can be given all the help they need to be successful.
