Tonight’s roast promises fun

We’re looking forward to seeing a big turnout tonight for the Greater Ennis United Way’s annual roast.
Since it began, this event has proven to be one of the highlights of the local social calendar. Those in attendance are treated to a great meal, lots of camaraderie and some serious laughs at the not-so-serious ribbing endured by the “guest of honor.”
This year’s victim is Nancy Swindell, who is well known for her community involvement and many contributions to betterment of our town. As Swindell herself recently pointed out, she’s lived in Ennis all of her life, so tonight’s roasters should have plenty of ammunition.
Of course, the evening is really about having fun and paying tribute to someone who means so much to the community while raising money for the Greater Ennis United Way. This organization supports several local charities and changes numerous lives in our community every year.
We would like to thank the GEUW volunteers and organizers of tonight’s roast for all of their efforts and their willingness to donate their time to help support local people in need. We would also like to offer a special thank you to Nancy Swindell for putting up with the fun that lies ahead. She’s truly a good sport with a deep desire to help others.
Tonight’s event kicks off at 6 p.m. at the KC Hall in Ennis. Please don’t miss this chance to have a good time while also helping to support several local charities.
