Support MOW fund-raiser

In the past two weeks we have heard of two ways that local organizations are assisting seniors with their everyday lives.
The Golden Circle Activity Center offers a place for seniors to gather and participate in various activities as well as mingle with friends and Meals-On-Wheels offers a way for seniors to remain in their own homes and still get a hot meal without having to prepare it for themselves.
MOW will be holding their annual fundraiser this weekend and we hope that community members have made plans to attend or at the very least are donating to the kitchen project which will see a new meal preparation facility for both counties the organization serves.
Clients who get meals through MOW are generally senior citizens who may not have the ability to cook for themselves and therefore either need the constant care of having someone come into their home to prepare meals for them or the independence that comes with knowing nourishing meals will be provided for them and delivered by a caring volunteer who may very well be their only interaction with the outside world that entire day.
The group prides themselves on being the link between seniors and the community and the new meal facility they are proposing will help solidify that place in Ellis County.
We encourage everyone who can to consider attending the MOW benefit on Saturday night or to check into other areas where assistance may be needed. Contact the group at 972-351-9943 or visit www.servingthechildrenofyesterday.org.
