Let good times roll for a good cause

St. John fan favorite casino night fund-raiser returns with new twist this year
Sinatra called luck a lady, and St. John Catholic Church youth minister Chris Mummert is hoping she smiles on the community when the annual Las Vegas night is held May 9.
The event, which is a fund-raiser for the Life Teen program, has a different angle this year with the host KC Hall also receiving a portion of the profits. Mummert said this new method of fund raising is something he hopes will catch on in the community.
“We wanted to keep the Vegas night fund-raiser to help with the Life Teen program, but we also wanted to have it benefit the community as well, so the organization that hosts the event each year will receive a portion of the funds raised,” he said. “The host location will rotate each year so that everyone has an opportunity to take part in it and we hope this will be a beneficial arrangement for everyone. The Vegas night has been a favorite among the community for many years and we’d like to continue that tradition.”
The event will feature many of the games a professional casino would offer and Mummert said a team of casino professionals is handling the whole evening so it will be on par with actually being at a casino.
