Family foundation gives to Greater Ennis United Way

The Greater Ennis United Way got a head start on its 2009 fund-raising campaign when the organization received a generous donation from the Kinzie Family Foundation.
“I think it’s cool that the Kinzie Family Foundation was the first donation for the 2009 Greater Ennis United Way Campaign, because the foundation has been part of the community for so long,” said Eliza Fulton, executive director for the Greater Ennis United Way.
Although the campaign doesn’t officially begin until August, Fulton said she is happy to accept the donation for the United Way early.
“Dr. Kinzie started off our fund-raising early, which is awesome,” she said.
Dr. Bill Kinzie, who serves as trustee for the Kinzie Family Foundation, said he is glad to be able to give to the United Way, and he donates personally every year. The Kinzie Family Foundation is mainly a scholarship foundation, but funds other causes as well.
Kinzie donated money from the foundation to the United Way in honor of his parents, Dr. Earl and Margaret Kinzie, and his stepmother Mavern Kinzie.
“I knew that the United Way was coming up short, so I felt I needed to make a distribution from our foundation,” Kinzie said. “We made a small donation to the United Way earlier, but we decided to go ahead and make a sizable donation.”
