Lions dominate Duncanville on home turf

Ennis puts on impressive 7-on-7 showing
Lion football may have seen its final 7-on-7 action of the summer Tuesday night at Ennis High, and if so it was a fine way to wrap things up.
Ennis hosted the 5A Duncanville Panthers, which are coming off a playoff season this past fall. Duncanville was split into two different teams, but the Lions were very impressive in dominating both foes.
Though Ennis was still without the services of explosive receiver Jyavon King, he wasn’t missed on this night with everyone in maroon making plays. Coach Bryan Clark noted Duncanville unquestionably got the better of Ennis when the two teams met a couple of weeks ago.
“We were kind of hitting on all cylinders [Tuesday], running crisp routes with few dropped balls and just being efficient on offense,” Clark said.
“This is an easy game when you throw and catch, which we didn’t do effectively against Duncanville last time. Defensively, we did a much better job covering crossing routes [Tuesday]. I’m seeing progress in our man coverage, especially with our linebackers.
“It’s good for those guys to have to get out of their comfort zone. I don’t know if playing at home gave the guys a boost, but they sure played better than they have all summer. There’s a pride factor on your home turf.”
