Service Master softball shines

Big victory sets up rematch with top seed
Taking the field on Thursday night for a chance to reach the midget division championship, Service Master was looking to put its best ball on the field.
Coach Wayne Cupples couldn’t have asked for more than a 15-0 triumph over Hejny Contracting to leave no doubt about which team was best suited to face top-seeded Keever for all the marbles. Each team finished with three hits as Hejny Contracting committed both of the game’s errors.
“Our last game was a 9-4 loss to Keever [on Wednesday] where they got us pretty good,” Cupples said.
“I told the girls it was time to make a statement and let everybody know in this league that we are for real. I think they showed it on the field.”
Alyssa Spence was a beast with bat in hand as she hit a grand slam and a game-clinching two-RBI single for Service Master. Samantha Maksud added a two-RBI triple and Ariel Burden came up with an RBI groundout for the victors. In the circle, Skyler Cupples (3 IP, 0 R, 3 H, 3 W, 4 SO) was sharp to be sure.
