Southwest Funding roars past Tigers, 5-2

An Ennis team did taste victory at state on Monday, and it happened down in Brownwood.
Competing in the TTAB junior state tourney, Southwest Funding broke open a 1-1 game in the fifth inning as it defeated the Athens Tigers 5-2.
“All in all, it was a well-played ballgame,” said coach Jeff Falkenbach. “Both teams did an excellent job with their pitching and defense in this game.”
Jalen Johnson went the distance on the mound as he struck out 10 in seven innings of work.
Falkenbach didn’t think twice about letting his ace go the whole way.
