Palmer Bulldogs fired up for season opener

On Monday, the Palmer Bulldogs began preparations for their first football game of the year by selecting team captains to lead them for the 2009 season. The captains were selected by a secret vote of the players.
“We have been preaching all year that this is (the players’) team and they have to take ownership of the program,” said head coach Ryan Roecker. “And so this is one way for them to do that.”
While the coach had only planned on having four captains, there was a tie for the fourth spot and he elected to carry five instead.
