Two arrested in 15-year-old slayings

The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office said Friday they had arrested Larry W. Samples, 61, of Arlington and Galen M. Boyd, 48, of Katy, Texas, on charges of capital murder in two killings from March 1994.
The two men are accused of killing Robbie Jean Biggar, 53, and her grandson Kasey Wyatt Roberts, 2. Samples and Boyd were arrested the week of Aug. 16.

The body of Roberts was found in his grandmother’s abandoned car on March 20, 1994, in an apartment complex in Red Oak. The child was still strapped in the car seat, and according to the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s office the preliminary ruling of the child’s death was asphyxiation due to extreme heat. At the time of Roberts death, the temperature outside rose to mid-80s and in the closed car it could have been well over 100 degrees.

Two days later, a worker at the idled Superconducting Super Collider project found Biggar’s fully clothed body shortly before noon in a ditch along FM 66, southwest of Waxahachie. Biggar had suffered blunt force trauma to her head causing extensive disfigurement and had been shot twice, once in the head.
