Food convoy countdown starts

A charity effort to feed the needy during the coming holidays is nearing the finish line, and representatives met one of the men behind the Feed the Children organization Tuesday.
The Greater Ennis Feed the Children Project is up to six trailers and is working on funding the seventh of a planned convoy of 10 trailers of food and necessities coming to Ennis on Nov. 5.

Claude Thomas, vice president of strategic ministries, was on tap Tuesday for a special meeting in advance of the convoy’s arrival in Ennis next week.

Plans are under way to get an escort together for the convoy that will include local police and fire officials, as well as a helicopter from Air Evac Lifeteam base in Ennis.
