Annual Christmas parade gears up

The Christmas Parade of Lights rolls next month, but the deadline to participate in the parade is Nov. 23.
There is no charge to enter the parade, but an application must be submitted to the Ennis Chamber of Commerce before the deadline, said Jeannette Patak, president and CEO of the Chamber. The floats should be Christmas-themed and decorated with Christmas lights, but there are no other limitations.

After the parade, first-, second- and third-place trophies will be awarded. Floats will be judged according to how they are decorated, and how creatively the Christmas lights are used, said Patak.

It’s a sure fire way to put people in the mood for Christmas, Patak said. The parade route is through the downtown area, where many buildings are lit up as part of the Lights of Ennis. Seeing the lighted parade go through downtown really adds to the spirit, she said.
