Spotlight on … Sam Tenpenny

For the most part, Ennis City Commission meetings all begin the same way.
Commissioners gather in the meeting room at City Hall with Mayor Russell Thomas and City Manager Steve Howerton. The city secretary, Shirley Trull, city attorney Toby Mash and Ennis Police Chief John Erisman are also there weekly. They banter before their workshop meeting — when the commission goes into detail about items on the agenda before their formal meeting — and get to business. That’s the procedure.

There’s also Sam Tenpenny.

It wasn’t always the case that he would walk the long hallway down to the meeting room twice per month to see the city commission in action.
