8th Maroon Lions shine in clutch vs. Everman

here were plenty of reasons for the eighth grade Maroon Lions to feel like a win was out of reach on Thursday night, but coach Quinton Brown and his players were highly motivated to overcome the odds.
Ennis (4-3) was without the services of leading scorer Shawn Johnson and top rebounder Terrance Williams. Then there was the Everman Bulldogs, which came in with the nation’s top-ranked junior high player on their roster. Ennis also trailed by nine at halftime, and yet with all of this stacked against the Lions they dug down deep and delivered a thrilling 58-55 victory.

“I thought this win was really big for us,” Brown said. “The guys gelled together this week. The players we lost (Johnson and Williams) were pushing the others in practice.
