Get involved with Relay For Life of Ennis
As we edge closer and closer to Tax Day (a mere 23 days hence as of this publication), you might think hard about using that refund check to support your friends and family in Ennis who have battled cancer.
One by one, teams are updating their information and posting fundraisers for the upcoming Relay for Life here in Ennis, scheduled for April 30-May 1. It’s getting closer every day, and every day you don’t commit a little of your time and some of your resources is a day you may end up regretting.
Just for reference, a host of community agencies are holding fundraisers throughout April to put as much money into the hands of the American Cancer Society as possible before the event. Every dollar helps improve patient outcomes and helps in the never-ending fight to end cancer in our lives.
• Ennis State Bank is doing a few different things:
First, they have Easter baskets for sale for $8, which includes the basket, a bunny, candy, a coloring book, and colors, all wrapped in cellophane.
ESB is holding an Easter bake sale in the main lobby on April 2, and are having a raffle for an iPod touch 8g, with a $50 iTunes gift card or a $250 Visa gift card. Chances are $3 each, or two for $5, and the giveaway is on May 1 and it’s not necessary to be present to win.
• Ennis Regional Medical Center has busied itself preparing for two luncheons.
The first luncheon was today from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., and another luncheon is being held on April 23 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the ERMC cafeteria. They are serving a lunch of chopped BBQ, chips, and a drink for $5 donations, and call-in orders are welcomed.
• Team Travis, the Travis Elementary School Relay For Life team, will receive 20 percent of the sales made at Pizza Hut on Tuesday starting at 5 p.m. In order for Pizza Hut to donate to Team Travis, the flier with this information must be presented to a Pizza Hut employee.
This is just a taste. Check out www.relayforlife.org/ennistx for more information about events or to donate.
