8th Maroon Lions get revenge on McCowan

Last season as seventh graders, this crew of Ennis football players was dealt a hard-fought 33-22 loss by undefeated district champion DeSoto McCowan in the season finale.
On Tuesday, the eighth grade Maroon Lions traveled to McCowan in search of revenge. McCowan’s eighth grade A-team hadn’t lost a game in two years and won last week, but Ennis (2-0) left no doubt with a dominant 25-0 victory. Through two games, the Lions have allowed zero points and just 11 first downs.

“You can’t ask for anything better than two eggs on the scoreboard in two games,” said defensive coordinator Marcus Gold. “That’s incredible and they believe in what we’re doing. I think the best thing they did (Tuesday) was run to the football. I told the guys that it would take more than effort this week.
