Spotlight on …

It was still dark outside as local World War II veterans gathered at the Waxahachie Civic Center to begin their journey as part of the 2010 Ellis County Honor Flight.
Thirty local veterans were joined by 26 guardians for a trip that saw them travel to Washington, D.C. to visit many national memorials and landmarks at the nation’s capitol.

The group departed from DFW Airport after traveling there with an escort from the Ellis County Sheriff’s Department, the Waxahachie Police Department, the Patriot Guard Riders and the Blue Knight Riders. They were welcomed at DFW by the USO Troop of Dallas and escorted to the American Airlines Admiral’s Club for breakfast prior to their flight.
