JV Lions pull off impressive win at Poteet

The JV Lion basketball team had six players available on Tuesday night while host Mesquite Poteet had enough bodies to field two teams, but none of that mattered by game’s end.
Ennis used a strong second quarter to go in front and then got the better of things in the final quarter to secure its fourth win of the year, 35-33.

“We had to go to a different scheme defensively and went with a matchup zone, which I hadn’t run all year long and we covered it in about 30 minutes (in practice),” said coach Rodney Ross. “Poteet didn’t know what to do offensively and we stayed in it pretty much for three-and-a-half quarters. It’s a great defense and I was pleased with how well we executed it for our first time.”
