Declaration was long overdue

Of the news Friday, perhaps the most welcome was the decision by the Federal Emergency Management Agency to reverse itself.

Not often is backtracking the best course, but in the case of the West fertilizer plant explosion and the possibility of a disaster declaration being withheld, it was the right thing to do for FEMA to change its mind and approved additional funding. The shattered community needs it after the plant explosion decimated much more than the physical structures associated with the havoc that night in April.
