EISD board swims like the swan it is
Do you the know the members of the current Board of Trustees? You should. You elected all seven of them, including two new ones this spring. The Ennis Independent School District, the largest employer in the City, has begun a new school year with responsibility for nearly 6,000 of our children. Funded by taxpayers, their work has gained the trust of the residents, for school board meetings are rarely ever attended by anyone who comes just to listen. Those on hand are either employees or parents whose child is being recognized as part of the evening’s agenda. Bramlet Beard capably continues as the president of the group, with Julie Pierce and Walter Beasley as vice president and secretary, respectively. Bill Chapman, John Erisman, Jennifer Haden and Kelly McManus consist of the remaining elected EISD trustee board. Perhaps their highest obligation in terms of action is to select the superintendent, who will serve over the entire 10 campus community. Since the recent departure of the previous Supt., Dr. John Chapman, III, the trustees have begun the process of locating a successor.
