Ennis shows it can rock


It just takes reaching out to make a difference. A word, a smile, a laugh can mean so much. One new Ennis resident has proven that this month when her desire to fan fun with her family led to a fad that’s become a mainstay for locals of all ages. The trend for “rock groups,” as they are called, didn’t touch Ennis until earlier this month but now the Bluebonnet City has its very own community of kids, adults and families painting rocks, hiding them, and posting pictures of them to Facebook. The rocks are beautiful, in every color and design, and painting them has become a hobby for many this end of summer. The hiding of them has also led to new interactions and friendships across the city. It was Amber Fitzhugh, a young woman brand new to Ennis, who hit upon the idea to bring a rock painting and adventure group to Ennis. She had joined a rock group in Garland last year as a fun pasttime for her and her niece. It soon involved the rest of her family and when she moved to Ennis earlier this year she decided to form a whole new group for others to enjoy in the town she now calls home.
