Flying colors, Ennis ISD


Most folks coast into the summer. Weather starts warming up, Easter has passed and the second semester is slowing down like the last drops squeezed from a lemon. Administrators at the Ennis Independent School District were not afford such a luxury. Leaders at the largest employer in the city were faced with a number of changes, and they were not the kind you run into when your favorite ice cream shelf is empty at the grocer. You know, when out of Dutch Chocolate you grab Vanilla or Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. When it’s the district superintendent that is gone, the person hired by the elected school board, that’s no small feat. Dr. John Chapman, who led the EISD through a rough patch at his start nearly five years ago, accepted an offer from the Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD at the end of May.
